Resume blog post: Master studies

Started my Master's studies and was doing a lot of reading on the web, and I came across this blog explaining on SRL (Self-Regulated Learning) and the author wrote about his/her learning on SRL to make sure it was well comprehended. I think it is a good way to try to write / explain something you have learned and if you can explain it well in simple terms that others could understand... it means that you have understand it well.

So for this first post after a long time, I will like to share my understanding on SRL -

SRL itself is a learning skill where the learners will, as its name, self-regulate their learning through reflecting their goals that have been set. They would monitor and reflect and come to aware if any fine-tune needed to achieve their goals better. Based on huge number of past studies, SRL is seen in few different aspects - cognition, metacognition, behavioural, emotional (or some call it affective) and motivational.

Cognition is the part where learners take acquiring new knowledge through understanding. Or in short, assimilation.

Metacognition, is more about awareness about one's own thought, or famously known as "thinking about thinking".

Behavioural aspect relates to one's attitude, how one react or respond to situations - optimistic, defensive, open-minded, coward, etc.

Emotional refers to the feelings - anxiety, happy, excited

Motivation is the energy level to do something. When someone is highly motivated, it means that he/she has high energy level to do certain task and vice versa. Motivation comes intrinsically from someone that has a burning need to do something and extrinsically to achieve something or obtain a reward.

Well, I still failed to write the above without any reference while writing...
But i'm making sure when I make further reference I comprehend it better.

Till then.
