Facts vs emotions

Recently I have a handful of topics in mind for posting / sharing. Kinda start to understand why people say that songwriters are people who have gone through heaps of feelings or experiences in life. When you go through some things, typically tougher incidents in life, it just seems like you are swarmed with ideas of life. I thought it would be great to jot it down in the blog as it marks the thoughts I have came through as part of my life.

So we all know what distinguishes human from all other living things is that human have
(1) emotions
(2) ability to think

Lets start off with (1) emotions- In mandarin, we say that everyone has 喜怒哀乐 (happiness, anger, sorrowfulness and joy, generally representing the term "emotions").  It is a natural ability given to us, it is of course, perfectly fine for us to express our feelings and emotions by laughing, crying, or even being mad, however, it is important to not let it take over / override the logical mind. If the emotions gets to the extreme, depression, suicidal happens. We should understand that things happen in life for a reason, and it is always my favourite to "laugh see" life with this quote - "If its good, its wonderful, if its bad, its experience." We do, sometimes, let emotions decide our actions and cause us some pain. It is fine to make mistakes, but bear in mind that "You can never make the same mistake twice, because the second time you make it, it's not a mistake, its a choice." It is not surprising that people can make mistakes over and over again , even though they reflected, knew their mistakes, but it takes huge courage to walk out of a comfort zone to do things differently. When overwhelmed with negative emotions, we should switch to the logical side of things and not take things too seriously, learn to forgive ourselves, at the same time learn from our mistakes and really integrate it into our upcoming days of lives, before walking out of the bad experiences and crafting another new part / chapter of life.

(2) The ability to think - this ability, is a powerful ability that makes us wiser if it is used correctly and in moderation.  It is a balance point that we need to strive for, to not overthink, as well as to not neglect certain factors when making a critical decision. However, i think most of the time human complicate thoughts because they have emotions. Elon Musk shared a point on "boiling things down to the most fundamental truth" and " being less wrong" , which I think is a good start off point of building thoughts on anything. I always think that, facts will always be facts, truth will always be truth, no matter we choose to believe or cheat ourselves... The truth will still be revealed someday. We do not have the ability to predict the future, or ensure everything we do is perfect, so we kind of boil things down from its "fundamental truth" and just get to the point of enough confident to do something without second doubts or afraid of being wrong. Most people have great ideas, but they might not have the courage to overcome the fear of being wrong. Its a combination of several things to be a great thinker - not afraid of being wrong (try to just make it less wrong), have the courage to do it , constantly challenge the common notions of doing things, knowing the value of doing it and having a purpose of doing things.

It is, sometimes, hurtful seeing a love one decides to go with their way , knowing it is an "emotional" decision rather than a logical one (seen much clearer from outside the situation), and especially seen the choice causing some pain already... But maybe, it is another kind of love, to let them go with their free will to live the life they want...wishing them all the best... I can help the best that I can, with the best knowledge I have, and at the end of the day, it is a "choice" for everyone to go the way they want. I could not be in control of anyone's life, no matter how much love I have for them.

Before I end, i would suggest everyone that come across this post to try -
"Learn from the mistakes of others, as you won't live long enough to make them all yourself."
This is a challenging one, as it is always harder to believe from seeing or listening, until we feel / experience it...

Enjoy the lifelong learning. Learn, and act.
